HARNESSING THE POWER OF DATA

“Policing is at a critical juncture. We either improve how we harness digital opportunities from existing and emerging technologies, or we risk becoming overwhelmed by the demand they create and lose the chance to enhance and modernise our policing services." - National Policing Digital Strategy (NPDS), 2020

Police forces are facing unique challenges around the means and methods by which they capture, store and share highly sensitive citizen data. Securely harnessing the power and potential of big data remains a strategic priority, as set out in the NPDS. This includes improved collaboration between forces in regard to digitalising core processes, balancing regional and national priorities, and the sharing of new capabilities, knowledge and R&D.

Download our Police Force of the Future ebook for the answers and insights you need to make an informed decision about the best way forwards for your police force, regardless of what stage you’re at on your digital transformation journey. In this ebook, you will learn:

  • How to overcome common obstacles to transformation across forces and regions
  • How to build a strong digital foundation inline with the NPDS
  • What the NPDS roadmap means for your force
  • How SASE can support your transformation objectives

SUPPORTING THE PUBLIC SECTOR

Cloud Gateway supported the deployment of Windows Virtual Infrastructure (WVI) as part of the Ministry of Justice's £1bn reform programme to ensure administrative processes are future proofed and adaptable for service needs.

The initiative recognised that administrative processes supporting the justice system had become outdated and were in need of investment. Since then, HMCTS have been introducing new technologies to modernise and innovate the tools, methods, and processes that underpin the justice system.

A crucial aspect of these reforms was to design and build common capabilities that could be utilised by the whole Ministry. From a security and networking perspective, this meant laying the foundational building blocks that would allow new services to be deployed rapidly without unnecessary cost or disruption.

This case study details how our cloud native SASE solution was and continues to support HMCTS in their reform of the justice system. Learn how it has delivered cost savings, improved security, and greater operational agility that will ultimately benefit the citizens of the UK. We're very proud to be contributing to such an important programme of work and excited to see what can be achieved in the future. Download your copy of the HMCTS case study now.

CLOUD ADOPTION FOR UK POLICING

Check out our Cloud Adoption for UK Policing use case, in which we explore how forces can securely share data, capabilities and expertise inline with the NPDS. The ebook discusses the role that technology can play in creating the Digital Foundations upon which greater resiliency, innovation and collaboration are possible.

The biggest threat to the operational resiliency of most police forces is the legacy technologies, tools and processes that they have come to rely upon. A widening gap is developing between the functionality and effectiveness of these systems and the business outcome they serve.

The purpose of a Digital Foundation is to address the need for increased control over the technology and vendors being utilised to power the digitalisation of UK police forces. IT teams require the ability to adopt and consume new and emerging digital services as they become available. It is critical that the underlying infrastructure is in place to facilitate this without prohibitive costs, lead times or disruption.

SASE AND CITIZEN SAFETY

“Digital Forensic services must take advantage of rapidly growing cloud services, allowing them to simplify and rationalise DF data storage, harness the power of automation, and explore new technologies such as machine learning." - Digital Forensic Science Strategy, 2020

The sensitive nature of the data being captured and stored by DFU's means IT leaders require a full and reliable audit trail to assist with compliance and assurance regulations. Furthermore, there continues to be significant growth in the sources from which data can be extracted, as well as the volume and variety of the data collected. Digital forensics data from victims, witnesses and suspects is typically from non-police sources and is approximately 20 times the volume of other police data combined.

The Government's Cloud First initiative requires public sector organisations to utilise cloud services where possible. The often means connecting legacy technologies and applications with cloud environments securely and without disruption to services and users. Download the use case, SASE for Digital Forensic Units, to learn how SASE can support your cloud, hybrid or multicloud strategy and provide the network and security foundation on which the digitalisation of the force and its services can take place.

CONNECT, PROTECT, INSPECT

Taking the first step is often the most difficult, but this should not deter us. Cloud Gateway's SASE platform has been designed in such a way that organisations can adopt and consume only the services that they need, with no obligation or commitment to take those that are not required. Once you're within the Cloud Gateway ecosystem, all of its network and security solutions are available to you on demand, without the long lead times or premium costs you might expect from traditional providers.

Whether you need connectivity to a cloud environment, access to a government network, or to add new sites or users to your network, Cloud Gateway can facilitate this in a matter of hours without disruption to services or users. All of this is delivered as a fully managed service with 24/7 support if required. Get in touch to learn how we can Connect, Protect and Inspect your network, applications, users, and data with our award winning SASE platform.
